Experience:
Welcome to the Alpine Pacific Surveying Company Limited where we believe experience is the key to client satisfaction.

David has over 40 years experience in the surveying profession, commencing with the Department of Lands and Survey, working in the high country of Otago. Looking for different experiences David accepted a position with a Fijian survey practice working in the New Hebrides (now Vanuatu). He was later contracted to the Service Topographique du Condominium as a surveyor and specialized in surveys on remote islands, until 1979 when he was invited to join the New Zealand Forest Service and manage the survey office in Gisborne.

1985 saw a change in survey style when David accepted the position of mine surveyor on a complex ore body in North Queensland. This led to involvement with specialized mine rehabilitation projects, and the survey of a new national park in western Queensland. The survey partnership of David and Suzanne Norman was formed during these projects.

In 1993 David and Suzanne were invited back to Vanuatu by the Chief Surveyor to start the first private practice and for David to become a member of the first Survey Board. The partnership became accredited suppliers to European Union aid projects, and undertook many public works surveys on a variety of islands.

David then travelled on a regular basis to central Australia where he was involved in GPS surveys for seismic investigation. At the completion of these contracts the partnership moved to Hanmer Springs and has since been working on survey projects large and small throughout New Zealand.
